Residents in rural Southhaven, Mississippi, have been plagued by a nonstop jet engine roar that's unsettled pets, caused insomnia and led some homeowners to flee. It isn’t a plane — or anything supernatural. It’s Elon Musk's company xAI, which installed 27 methane gas turbines to power a data center that locals say began running day and night without warning.

While the project was touted to bring in millions of dollars and new jobs, frustrated residents gathered at a public hearing to express concerns about air and noise pollution and unanimously opposed the permit proposal to construct 41 new turbines on the property.
