Department of Homeland Security agents allegedly detained a Columbia University student after making "misrepresentations to gain entry" to a residence hall, the school said.

Acting President Claire Shipman said in a letter the university is "working to gather more details," but reminded the campus community that law enforcement agents must have a judicial warrant or judicial subpoena to access nonpublic areas of the school.
