President Donald Trump said he would nominate outgoing national security adviser Mike Waltz to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would serve as national security adviser in the interim.

Waltz's involvement in the Signal chat leak will likely be a source of contention during the Senate confirmation process for the ambassadorship.
